Where’s the Outcry?
May 12, 2008
Last I checked, this nation of ours was a constitutional republic, founded on conservative ideals and functioning economically under capitalism. Why, then is there no outcry when, for months now the democrats have been openly and emphatically espousing communist ideals? I don’t say this for shock value. Truly, the shocking part is that no one, conservative pundits included, is calling them out on their war against the basic tenets that have made American society the greatest the world has ever known.
This is scary stuff.
Communist ideals? You betcha. Turn on the TV, read a newspaper or magazine, even pick up a slimy tabloid - it’s right there - sometimes on the front page! From universal healthcare to income redistribution to higher taxes - these themes are now mainstream, even talking points - and the dissent from the right seems meek and without traction. You’ve got a problem - they’ve got a huge government program to fix it; especially if you’re in a voting block that they’re courting. Propaganda rules, it seems. It’s true that an untruth, when printed and verbalized enough, becomes a truth. That, coupled with lining the bottom of a bird cage, makes two reasons for the existence of the New York Times. State run media, anyone?
The fact that today’s democrats aren’t killing people (unless you count what they want to do to our healthcare system) doesn’t extirpate them from the communist family tree. What they ARE killing is personal responsibility. Achievement. The individual. To the leftist (democrat, communist, liberal), all of these must go; although one gets a sense that they really enjoy punishing them thoroughly first. The answer to every societal problem is government. Indeed, there is a reason the word ‘Democrat’ is included in the name of most socialist and communist countries.
In the words of William F. Buckley, conservatism is the politics of reality. Reality is that communism always fails. Reality is that communism is accompanied, in fact, utterly dependent on fear and poverty. Oh, and don’t forget the oppression against gays and other liberal protected groups it always has as a legacy. I think we can all agree that liberals wouldn’t survive five minutes in the world they yearn to engender. How many movie tickets can your average Cuban citizen afford to buy, anyway?
I’ll save secularism and the liberal penchant for losing wars for a future column.
I’ll summarize by saying that with their ideology and rhetoric directly opposed to the ideals that have made this country great, liberals are at a minimum profoundly misguided; at their worst, unabashedly anti-American. We could theorize that they have some infirmity (guilt, fear of having to get off the couch, perhaps) that causes this. Frankly, I don’t think they’re worth the office visit. Plus, under their healthcare system, they wouldn’t live long enough to get treated. Go figure.
I don’t hate Dems, I just can’t understand how anybody can be that dumb, or probably better stated, antiAmerican.
