Ultra-conservative David “Axis of Evil” Frum and I agree
August 31, 2008
Never thought David Frum and I would be on the same page…. Frum, you may recall, is the Bush speech writer who put the infamous phrase, “Axis of Evil” in Bush’s mouth. He writes in the consevative “National Review”: Palin The longer I think about it, the less well this selection sits with me. And I increasingly doubt that it will prove good politics. The Palin choice looks cynical. The wires are showing. John McCain wanted a woman: good. He wanted to keep conservatives and pro-lifers happ

Rasmussen–Palin Makes Good First Impression: Is Viewed More Favorably than Biden
August 31, 2008
Sarah Palin has made a good first impression. Before being named as John McCain’s running mate, 67% of voters didn’t know enough about the Alaska governor to have an opinion. After her debut in Dayton and a rush of media coverage, a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 53% now have a favorable opinion of Palin while just 26% offer a less flattering assessment. Palin earns positive reviews from 78% of Republicans, 26% of Democrats and 63% of unaffiliated voters. Obviously, these n

While I’ve been waiting, I’ve been catching up on the cable news coverage of last week. It almost seems like they were at a different convention than I was. One infinitely more dangerous and sexy! Much like these diaries… Al Rogers with Sarah Palin’

Sarah Palin
August 30, 2008
McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin certainly has suceeded in catching the headlines. It has dominated the cable news netwroks for two days now. Before I blog in more depth on her, a quick reference back to the Obama speech. Factcheck.org fisks Obama’s speech and finds seven inaccuracies, half-truths, exaggerations etc. Now to be fair, I am sure when McCain does his speech, they wll find a similiar number. But I think it is a wonderful resource to have a neutral well funded site that checks facts a

McCain/Palin: More Bush Failure and Corruption
August 30, 2008
John McCain, desperately clinging to the maverick image he once had, has openly promised us nothing but the same failed policies of the Bush years. About the only thing that one can say about McCain is that he is, for a Republican, relatively free of scandal, if you ignore his role in the infamous Savings and Loan scandal. But with his choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate, McCain has now shown that he openly embraces the Republican culture of corruption that has plagued America under Bush.

The Sexism of the Palin Pick
August 30, 2008
The Sexism of the Palin Pick By Jeff Fecke | August 30, 2008 Ann Friedman makes the case: Palin’s addition to the ticket takes Republican faux-feminism to a whole new level. As Adam Serwer pointed out on TAPPED, this is in fact a condescending move by the GOP. It plays to the assumption that disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters did not care about her politics — only her gender. In picking Palin, Republicans are lending credence to the sexist assumption that women voters are too stupid t
